Apprentice Program

The goal of the Dissonance Dance Theatre Apprenticeship program is to introduce young dance artists who are interested in studying contemporary and theatrical dance styles, and to the professional world of dance theatre. Selected Apprentices have an opportunity to perform with the company.  

 


Damien Carter

Damien Carter began his dance training with gymnastics. He also studied with the Anacostia Tappers.  Damien furthered his dance training while at the University of the District of Columbia. Mr. Carter is a former backup dancer for Las Vegas performer Suzanne Goulet. He is an alumnus performer of Momentum Dance Theatre.


Salone Jones
Salone hails from Savannah, Georgia where she studied dance with Madelyn Walker. Ms. Jones has performed with Sankofa Dance Theatre. Accomplished actress and film student, Salone received her BFA in Film/Television from Savannah College of Art and Design. Some of her acclaimed  credits: (Independent) Here Today Gone Tomorrow, Archie, Baby-News, Key To My Heart  "I believe it is our duty as human beings to be of service to others. I see it as an honor and a duty to share my talent with others."


Dedrick Makle
Since the age of 13 year old, Dedrick has continued to advance his artistic talent through performing. Originally from Pineville, Louisiana, his performance credits include: Crazy For You, Fiddler On the Roof, Cat On a Hot Tin Roof and The Wiz. Dedrick studied dance under Sylvia Davis, Brenda and Richard Rudd.  Dedrick also served as the Choreographer and Director of the Hip Hop/Step youth chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi in Alexandria, Louisiana.  He holds a B.S. in Legal Studies from Florida Metropolitan University. 


Amy Scaringe
Amy Scaringe graduated from Towson University in January of 2009 with a BFA in dance performance. While there she studied under Linda-Denise Fisher-Harrell, Catherine Horta-Hayden, Jaye Knutson, Susan Mann, Dana Martin, Keith Thomas and Vincent Thomas. At Towson, she was also able to work with, and perform works by Chris Elam from Misnomer Dance Company and Donald Shorter from Bill T Jones Company. She has performed with Misako Ballet Company and Equinox Dance Company.


Roxie Doniphan Thomas

Roxie Doniphan Thomas is a native of Tupelo, Mississippi.  She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre from the University of Mississippi, where she was one of six dancers chosen for the Dwight Rhoden Choreography Project, which was then showcased at the Kennedy Center.  In Mississippi she was a soloist and choreographer with The Dance Company. She holds a Master of Arts in Dance from Shenandoah Conservatory, where she studied with Alan Arnett, Ting-Yu Chen , Maurice Fraga, Kim Gibilisco, Elijah Gibson, Erica Helm, and Linda Miller. Recently, Roxie created, directed and choreographed a two-hour dance concert, The Doniphan Project, at the Lyric Theatre in Tupelo, Mississippi. This spring, she had the opportunity to set a new work on the dance department at Morehead State University in Morehead, KY.Roxie is currently working at St. Andrew�s Episcopal School as the Dance Teacher for the Upper and Middle School. She is excited to become a part of Dissonance Dance Theatre family!
