Shawn Short - Producing Artistic Director
Mr. Short has studied with national and international acclaimed artists. He has studied with faculty and dancers from Alvin Ailey American Dance Center, Lines Ballet, Washington Ballet, Dance Theatre of Harlem, Dance Institute of Washington, Dance Alloy, Philadanco, Towson University, Baltimore and Duke Ellington School of Performing Arts. Ballet Pedagogy student of Washington School of Ballet Director Kee Juan Han, John White and Margarita De Saa. Shawn holds a BFA in Musical Theatre with a minor in Theatre Management from Howard University. Currently, Shawn is Professor of Ballet at Catholic University of America and a 2013 MFA Candidate in Dance at University Of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He is also a fiscally sponsored artist through the New York Foundation for the Arts.
Mr. Short has performed with K2 Dance, Adrian Bolton Dance, El Tearto de Danza Contemporeanea El Salvador, Bolton/Smith and has been a guest artist with Dance Alloy in Pennsylvania.
Shawn has choreographed for Dance Institute of Washington and Washington Ballet @ THEARC. His works have been presented at the Capital Fringe Festival, Greater Washington Urban League National Conference, Southeastern University, Artists' Bloc 12X6 Series ,Harke Theatre, Catholic University School of Music, Jack Guidone Theatre Space, Lang Theatre, Atlas Theatre Complex Lab II Theatre, THEARC Theatre, DC Park and Recreation, Brooklyn Arts Exchange. Jonathon Ross Carrington - Production/Development Manager
Jonathon studied at Howard University where he obtained a BFA in Theatre Arts Administration. He has worked as a production manager, special events coordinator, technician, and an avid arts fundraiser throughout Washington, DC, Virginia, Massachusetts, and Indiana. Jonathon has worked extensively on numerous dance and theatre productions for Howard University's Department of Theatre Arts, New World Theatre Company, and various works for local artists in the DC area. Chris Holland – Lighting Designer
Originally from Pittsburgh, PA, moved to DC two years ago, and is very excited to be working with Dissonance Dance Theatre. He currently is the lighting designer for Matter of Reaction Movement Project in Chicago, IL, and has worked locally with Taffety Punk Theatre, Journeymen Theatre Ensemble, and Life Rhythm Move Project. Chris has also worked with the Houston Ballet, Paragon Music Theatre, Purdue Repertory Dance Company, Artists Collaborative Theatre, Bluegrass Youth Ballet, School for the Creative and Performing Arts, and toured with the Kentucky Ballet Theatre. Sergey Apasov – House Photographer
With over 20 years of experience, Sergey hails from Russia. He is a true visual artist who works in all media of fine arts from painting, photography, web and graphic design. His photography is captivating, stunning and elegant. Mr. Apasov resides in Maryland with his wife and children. Sergey has been Dissonance Dance Theatre's house photographer for 3 years. James Bennett – Videographer
For the past 15 years, Mr. Bennett has worked on numerous dance and theatre productions to help artists get their video services delivered with 100% satisfaction. He is the CEO of JDB Digital Productions, located in the Brookland neighborhood of the Washington, DC area, a "one-stop shop" business that offers VHS to DVD transfers, DVD duplication, professional-grade YouTube clips, performance and video trailers, photography services, accommodating editing hours, and digital videotaping of performances at a negotiable rate.
